Why programm don’t marks article as READ when it was mark FAVOURITE? The oldest version did it.

  2. Simon January 15, 2012 at 3:25 pm

    I have a couple if questions –
why do is .gif’s not play?
Also, how do I see old posts on an RSS feed, when I add a new feed I see about 20 posts plus the new ones to that feed and there are a lot more when I go to any of my feeds web pages?
is there a setting to dowload all posts from a feed?

    • meecel January 15, 2012 at 3:33 pm

RssDemon doesn’t support animate gif, we will look into it in future release. number of articles are decided by website feed. most of website limit # of articles available through feeds. and there are technically impossible to download all articles from a website.

      • Simon January 16, 2012 at 2:52 pm

        Cool, cheers for the reply.

      • Vapula August 24, 2015 at 2:30 pm

The option to limit the storage should be per feed. Some feeds are server-limited (dilbert, xkcd), but some aren’t (engadget, ars technica).
Right i have to let things go up to a few thousand posts on the latter, then erase everything, and let them accumulate. Would be nice to limit to a couple thousand posts, better yet a duration.

      • tikreen March 4, 2017 at 10:00 am

If you really need to support animate gif, me noob thinks it would be better to just offer to open it externally with a , say, another gif player app. KISS

I don’t have available widget from last update. Why is it missing?

  5. Piotr January 15, 2012 at 4:59 pm

Realy great app. Only two problems is with widget. First – I can add widget, but I can’t go from widget to selected feed (i have to push rssdeamon icon than select rss and after that read), second – there are two small triangles on widget. After touching next or previous arrow nothing – there is no teaction. I’m using galaxy tab 7 with froyo.

  6. Kujab January 16, 2012 at 3:46 am

I have Motorola Defy with 2.2. I will try reinstallation later evening.
Also problem with widget which doesn’t open selected feed I was facing.

I mainly use RSSDemon for downloading audio podcasts to my HTC Sensation… and previously, on my HTC HD2. It worked wonderfully up until an application update came down through the Market. Initially, it appeared to have blown away all my previously downloaded podcasts. Then, after another couple of updates from the Market, I found ‘some’ of those previously downloaded podcasts; and could play them easily enough. Now, the ONLY podcast that I seem to be able to download is Mysterious Universe, because the option to download no longer exists on any of the other podcasts that I’ve added.

Honestly, I really enjoyed RSSDemon until the wheels came off the wagon (and I was no longer able to download podcasts). It WAS the best podcast manager I came across. Unfortunately, whomever is responsible for the problems precipitated by the Market updates seems to have their own agenda; and they don’t seem to give too much consideration to the end user experience. Otherwise, these essential features wouldn’t have been hacked out.

I’ve been patiently waiting for that magical update to fix it all. Alas, it seems not to be.

Until and unless the ability to download audio podcasts is restored, I am planning to uninstall RSSDemon from my device. In the interim, I’ll be actively searching for a worthy replacement.

    It’s been a good ride… until recently.

    Peace… and prosperity to Meecel.
    Mick

    • meecel January 18, 2012 at 12:37 pm

      • Mick Psyphon January 18, 2012 at 1:39 pm

Backed up… and files sent… as per request.

        Thanks,
        Mick

      • Mick Psyphon February 4, 2012 at 9:28 pm

Any progress in determining the issue based on the database that I sent you?

      • meecel February 4, 2012 at 10:28 pm

we have just restored from your backup, and updated all feeds successfully, we also could download podcast no issue. please let me know which podcast you couldn’t download the podcast

    • Mick Psyphon January 31, 2012 at 12:36 am

Just checking whether there has been any progress on the issue I reported. I still cannot download most of the podcasts to which I’ve been a subscriber already.

To date, I have yet to find any other decent, free podcast manager.

      Cheers!
      Mick

Hi, can you do something about embedded images not showing in RssDemon? For example http://www.nytimes.com/services/xml/rss/index.html or http://taz.de/!p3270;rss/ and http://www.chefkoch.de/rss/rezept-des-tages.php have images but all in different feed formats.

    Thanks.

  9. rick January 29, 2012 at 11:40 pm

Hi. My Acer Iconia A500 has been having an issue. Whenever I am reading feeds, if I rotate screen, it jumps back to first article in the feed list no matter where I was. This happens rotating in any direction. Thank you for looking into this.

I have latest v. 3.1.18 of RSSdemon Elite. For some reason article images are no longer showing…all that’s visible is a grey box??

  13. Neil February 23, 2012 at 10:29 am

I play the podcast from the playlist and I would like the ability to skip to the next 30 seconds. I know at the top there is a slide bar but using the slide to skip a short amount of time (accurately) is very difficult if not impossible.

  14. Dimas February 27, 2012 at 10:41 pm

is there a way to syncronize with google reader?

Using your programm on mobile phone, from time to time prefer continiue reading some feeds on my desktop. What I do now is mail them to myself. May be there is another better way?

  15. steph February 28, 2012 at 5:26 pm

Is it possible to tell RSS Demon to exclude certain articles from downloading (by keywords perhaps)? I’m not interested in sports news and would like to stop wasting traffic on them but most of my feeds contain sports news every now and then.

    Cheers.

  16. hedrat February 28, 2012 at 7:02 pm

What happened to the local feed limits option? It was there in the first version of the program but missing for months now. On the global options the text suggest that the feed limits can be overridden by local feed properties, but this setting doesn’t appear anymore. Quite simply ,i want to keep all of my podcasts and don’t want to keep old news articles. Without this feature i will need a different program to do my RSS feeds in future.

  17. Jonny February 28, 2012 at 9:39 pm

Article download is no longer working. Before all my feeds auto downloaded the article not i have to manually download and select update. Even then the article doesn’t download. Im using the latest version on the motorola atrix.

    Hi,

since several days all the news from the most important Spanish newspaper read bad. All the Spanish accented letters show with strange characters. If I see the news in Google Feeds, they look all right. All the other fonts read ok too. Any idea?

  20. ehemmer March 5, 2012 at 1:17 pm

Dont know if anybody else reported this but the app wont start the first time unless I turn the tablet to a landscape orientation. Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Plus.

How do I specify a user name and password for a feed?

  22. fencepost March 12, 2012 at 11:36 am

Just discovered RSSDemon yesterday and am enjoying it so far, but I have an issue that I can’t figure out. Every time I click on an article link to view it, the android browser opens up to display the article. I checked the changelogs and see there’s supposed to be options for “Inline/Single View” settings, but those settings don’t show up in any of the menus on my phone. The app help videos show the articles appearing right within RSSDemon. Am I missing something?

    Thanks.

  23. Hijax0r March 13, 2012 at 12:15 am

    Hello! Greatt RSS reader, yet:
Is there some kind of a limit on how many feeds you can have? Or maybe just a lot of my feeds dont work? (I have about 130) i.e perfectly good ones like: “http://feeds.feedburner.com/dezeen?format=xml” seem to give me no new items!

  24. Q March 13, 2012 at 2:05 pm

Is there any way to force import of old feed entries from google reader? I’ve tried to import some sources from it, and only one got a full list from the start, others just showed me a couple of newest entries

  25. Peter March 13, 2012 at 5:59 pm

Hi, I’m a long-time user (and Elite licensed :). Recently, I found a recurring and annoying bug: when playing a certain podcast (Stuff You Should Know), the duration of the podcast is identified as being much longer (3 hours or so) than it actually is. If the playback is paused, it resumes at the wrong place (very near the beginning of the podcast). I never had this problem with older versions of the app, and this is the only podcast of the six or so that I listen to that has the problem. I’m using the latest version of RSSDemon on a Galaxy S with the Firefly ROM. I tried deleting the cache, uninstalling and reinstalling, but the problem persists.

  26. Carmen March 14, 2012 at 1:59 pm

Ever since updating rssdemon, I’ve come across a problem that with almost every article it says that I need to go into some kind of settings function on my internet browser to allow cookies (Article content doesn’t appear). I tried altering the settings in rssdemon to no avail. I’m using a galaxy s2 phone if that helps. Any suggestions?

  27. Santiago March 20, 2012 at 4:19 pm

I have suscrived to several podcasts that are over a year old and no longer updated. I want to download all the podcasts to listen. I can not get RSSDemon to download them… how should I do this?

  28. Mara Alexander March 27, 2012 at 5:41 pm

I’m using RSSDemon v3.1.19 and I’ve noticed that it often will display/redisplay feed articles I had previously read and marked as read. I’ve more-or-less confirmed it’s not the fault of the feed itself, as I still have the same feeds in Google Reader (via browser) and this doesn’t happen with Reader.

I even tried changing the setting to hide read articles, and they still come back randomly as if new (and some are 2 weeks old). Feed message store limits are set for 5 (with no feed settings overriding that), but frequently I get 10-15 old articles being displayed as new. I’ve tried deleting read articles, auto clean up, etc…but the problem is old articles are still being pulled in/displayed as if they are new.

I’ve also noticed that even when I have the settings set to update articles automatically with an update interval of 4 hours, it’s not happening. I’ll read articles and check the last refresh time, and it’s often 6-8 hours.

If these issues could be sorted out, RSSDemon would totally rock!

    • robm April 18, 2012 at 10:13 am

I’ve the same problem with old messages that pop-ups again and again. Before that I’ve moved my database to the other phone using buck-up/restore.

Hi… I purchased RssDemon Elite back in December 2010 & for a while it worked OK then started playing up, at the time I wasn’t too bothered by this as not actively using RSS feeds etc.

I now wish to utilise the software but it keeps asking for payment. Is there any way round this if I am able to send you my order number via email etc? Or will I have to purchase the app again?

  30. ion April 3, 2012 at 1:18 pm

OK so it downloads only preset feeds but not the ones I add.
    Any idea ?
And its not the feed, I tried it and it works.

  31. Changho April 4, 2012 at 3:46 am

Hi – how do you make RSSDemon the default reader – when i press RSS button on HTC desire the feed gets put into the stock News app, great app by the way

  33. Roz April 17, 2012 at 7:39 am

Hi, I changed sd cards on my device (first copied all data from old to new card), and now all rssdemon feeds are gone even though I had the rssdemon set to run from device.
I reinserted the original card, but still everything is gone.
I’ve made no changes to the device, or the original sd card so why are my feeds gone, and can I restore them (I did not create backup prior to changing sd cards but what does it matter if I had rssdemon working from device anyway?)
    Galaxy Tab 7

    Using version 2.1

  35. Chrigu May 3, 2012 at 12:46 pm

    How2 save Podcasts @microSD-card?

I activated “use sdCard” @SamsungGalaxyW, but they are stored into the “USB-storage”
    /sdcard/com.meecel.feedreader.RssDemonAd/…
    instead of
    /sdcard/external_sd/Android/data

    how can I fix it?

Hi, nice app! I have a prayer though. I’m using the app to download magazines in speak form (mp3) or (aac) via Rss feed. Each magazine has 12-16 articles. if I want to download in mp3 I have to manually download each article! If I download in aac, I get all articles in one download, nice! But then I can’t choose among the articles, if I fx just want to listen to a particular article. Is it not possible to download all articles fx in mp3 and then make the files visible/readable in fileexplorer, so that I can use my favourite music player

  38. Thanassis May 6, 2012 at 1:19 am

Great app – thanks. There are two themes that require a restart. Can we please switch between them like a day/night mode found in ebook readers.

  41. itry2brational June 2, 2012 at 12:12 pm

I keep adding the alternet.org feed but it keeps saying “No items available” “0 new articles” yet I can see them on the alternet.org page. Updating doesn’t add them.

  42. Miro June 4, 2012 at 6:14 pm

    Hi, How are you ?:)
Have bug report. Do not know why, but some time ago, demon does not download some articles from http://feeds.feedburner.com/theautomaticearth/Ytpm

I tried to switch to google mobilizer, but it looks like it is not even called, cause when i press mobilize on item always browser opens item using instapaper and that not work , article is redirected to real link on that site.

And if i can also to ask some future, i would like to have possibility to categorize articles in some way, coloring would be great, or something…

Anyway, thank you for this best rss reader

    Kind regards,

    Miro

How can I play articles from a specific feed one after the next automatically? Also, I have article limit set to 15 but more than 15 articles get downloaded.

  44. gregaste June 12, 2012 at 12:27 pm

Hi I swap from feed plus to demon because of problems in downloading podcast for offline, but I still have issues :
I set the 3G update “ON”
After a long tap on any podcast I choose download on next update, then I can start the update or wait for an automatic one, nothing happens 😦

I have no pb with article, image in the article are mostly ok, but all of my podcasts stay with the “red antenna icon”

I have no pb to surf on opera in 3G, so I don’t THINK it’s an APN issue, but… I just don’t know what to do or check here…

    Help?

  45. reindeer June 15, 2012 at 4:27 am

    Hi!

First of all, thanks for the great app! But I often encounter the problem, that many feeds won’t be read after adding (they just don’t work). Example-feed: http://www.heise.de/newsticker/heise-atom.xml
    Could this he fixed somehow?

Thanks again for your great work 🙂

  46. maurilloh June 17, 2012 at 5:10 am

It’s possible to copy a link or whatever inside the feed? I think at the moment no, but i would like this feature if possible. Thanks and congratulation for the wonderful app!

  47. josh.s June 19, 2012 at 12:56 am

loved the app until it decicided to not download podcasts instead it will only play them online online………….would love it more if you could tell why it does this how to fix it. thanks

    forget it im done

  49. MattB June 19, 2012 at 3:11 pm

App looks nice but I’m wondering if it supports feeds that require authentication. I have one set up but it just displays no articles and never prompts me for the username/password. I am running 3.1.19 and in the description on the Android Market it says “HTTP-Auth/Password: for protected feed, user now can enter a http auth and password” but maybe I’m entering something improperly.

  50. Jay June 26, 2012 at 12:33 pm

looking at a vid feed rss… will rssdemon play mp4s? what namespace information is it looking for in rss to play files?

  51. Jaiy June 27, 2012 at 10:09 am

I, too, am not receiving the podcast information that is in postings in some feeds.

One example, is WNYC radio’s Brian Lehrer show… I have subscribed using http://feeds.wnyc.org/wnyc_bl.

Each day I do receive about 6 or 7 new articles and, for each, can view the text and associated image file. But there is also a podcast associated with most postings and RSSDemon is not giving me the podcast info. So, when I click the article, there are no buttons to download the podcasts. The following sequence forces a re-download of the article and sorts things out, but this is annoying to have to do every day:
    – view the feed
    – view an article
    – click the X button at the bottom of the article, then the BACK button to go back to the articles listing (at which point the just-deleted article disappears from the listings)
    – repeat the last two steps for each article that’s supposed to have a podcast
    – press MENU >> More >> Undelete All
    – click to confirm that I really do want to Undelete
    – press MENU >> Update
    – wait for the articles to be re-updated
and this time, I will have the article text and will now see the associated podcast information (but, now, the image no longer displays!) At least, though, I can now mark the podcasts for download.

Viewing the feed URL on my laptop with my browser does show articles with both text, image links and podcast links, so I am not sure why RSSDemon is not providing the podcast links the first time.

    • Jaiy June 28, 2012 at 12:41 pm

Following up on the above, I watched the blog feed closely today and noticed that they published the articles before the show airs containing just text and images. Then, after the show had aired, they updated the articles to add the podcast link. The date/time on the articles did update to reflect the update, but perhaps RSSDemon is not seeing the updated article and so not fetching it again which is why it doesn’t display the podcast link until you force the deletion and re-download of the article?

If that’s the case, could support be added for this situation, please?

  52. Fito August 1, 2012 at 4:45 am

Anyway to make the fonts bigger on a tablet?

    Thanks

  62. Henry Walpool September 18, 2012 at 7:01 pm

I forgot to add that the program is setup for the biggest font possible in the settings. In earlier version one could select a large size than can be selected now. I also noted that landscape and portrait mode have different size fonts. I would love to get the landscape size font in portrait mode. Thanks.

I’m having problem with RSS feeds getting updated if the titles of the new articles don’t vary from the existing ones (though guid elements in RSS) . I tried several other RSS readers and it works fine there but I like yours and would like to use it.

  67. bakavector October 11, 2012 at 12:55 pm

i can not seem to find out how to add a feed after i have found it using the search function.

  68. firebird October 29, 2012 at 10:56 am

Would like to have another option when download interval is set to 24h to specify the time for downloading podcasts and articles (i.e. synchonization). The use-case is that I want RSSDaemon to download all that big files when the phone is charging over night. All that is needed is to set update-interval to 24h and have a new option to set the time to e.g sime time late in the night. Thank you.

  69. Ralph November 3, 2012 at 6:00 am

Hi!i really loved this app on my very old GT-19000 and thanks for making this very nice program. My problem is that it worked fine on my galaxy s running custom slimbean rom. However im now using a galaxy note 2 N7100 and so i proceeded to make a backup hoping to keep all my settings and feeds. Problem is, when i tried to restore using the database and xml file the app cant seem to find it even though i placed it in the exact same location where it was made on my galaxy s. After a while and a couple of resets the fone is now able to detect my backup but now it wont load the backup saying there is an sdcard error. Im now at a complete loss as to what to do. Please help me..thanks

    • Ralph November 3, 2012 at 6:05 am

I restarted my fone and uninstalled-reinstalled the app. And now its working.lol thanks for this wonderfull app. I wish it would play animated .gif though.thanks again

  70. Neil November 5, 2012 at 1:27 pm

I changed from a Bionic to a Verizon Samsung S3 and I exported\imported my settings. Your app is working but it is saving my podcasts to the phone and not the sdcard even though I have save to sdcard checked. Can you help me with a suggestion to get it to work on sdcard? I also tried doing a fresh install without mporting and the same results. Also the app seems to download new data over and over.

    Any suggestions?

  71. meph November 10, 2012 at 5:02 pm

    Hi,
I need to get a feed with digest authorization (to read friends’ privatу posts at livejournal.com), but it doesn’t seem to work in RSSDemon, neither with login/pass entered, nor with “login:pass@address?auth=digest” construction in feed address. Does anyone know, is it possible to do in RSSDemon?

meecel, is it going to be implemented in future versions? Is it going to be soon?

  72. Robert Slaughter January 3, 2013 at 9:55 pm

Exactly how do you /load/ an OPML from another system? I went to “Manage Sources”, then “Add”, selected OPML, gave the path to the OPML file (“/mnt/sdcard/Download/feeds.opml”), and it listed the feeds after opening the file. But nothing on /adding/ them to RSSDemon! Trying to select one does nothing, and there appears to be nothing else to select. Going back doesn’t load them. Help, please!

  73. tim January 6, 2013 at 5:09 pm

I was using the free version. I backed up my feed list regularly, as I added feeds. It always said backup was successfully made. Decided to get pro version. Installed. First of all, the app SHOULD have kept my feeds, but no matter, I’ve got my backup, right? Wrong. Went to restore backup and it tells me no backup found. I hope you have a quick fix for this or I want a refund.

    • tim January 6, 2013 at 6:07 pm

I received confirmation from Google Play that they cancelled my order and will refund. But I still want an response. I like RSS Demon–that’s why I was willing to purchase it. Please tell me how to install the RSS Demon Pro and import my 50 or so feeds without re-typing them!

I want to know is there anyway to sync my feeds with my google reader? I know you guys have several apps, but which one syncs with your google reader?

Hmm it appears like your blog ate my first comment (it was super long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I submitted and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I as well am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to everything. Do you have any points for inexperienced blog writers? I’d really appreciate it.

  76. mpally January 21, 2013 at 8:07 am

Google Alerts feeds are not loaded. Do you have any ideal?

  77. John January 22, 2013 at 3:24 pm

I’m having trouble getting some urls to work here’s an example that doesn’t work.

    http://portland.craigslist.org/search/cto?maxAsk=4500&minAsk=3000&query=audi%20|%20vw&srchType=T&format=rss

rssdemon doesn’t see the new posts, and nothing happens when I have rssdemon try to go to open the website. Other craigslist urls work fine. The “|” seems to be problematic, but I don’t know how to fix it.

  78. used Car January 31, 2013 at 7:46 pm

Additionally, you will have to pay for a relatively higher loan rate.
He writes down the full price of the car and then may write
down the “discount” that they are giving you just because
you’re a great person and they really like you or it’s a “sales bonanza” or whatever.
The job of door-to-door salespersons making unsolicited
visits to houses to peddle their wares is even worse, for they take such abuses to their faces, unlike telemarketers who have the shield of the telephone.

I have many problems with ivoox.com podcast, I listed some items and not others, Please correct it soon

  83. George February 24, 2013 at 5:51 pm

Does RssDemon rely on some server for checking updates or does the app itself access each individual feed directly? Is my list of feeds uploaded to a server for any purpose?

  84. Chris March 3, 2013 at 1:39 pm

I just developed a bug issue. If I go to the article from the RSS demon from the headline list, it launches my browser, but then I must force close and reopen the RSS demon program to get back to the list of headlines. Hitting the back button takes me to my browsers homepage, when it used to go back to the RSS demon.

  85. Keith March 14, 2013 at 7:37 am

I love RSS Demon and will be sharing it with all my friends. I’d like to figure out how to do one thing…. In the feed, I want no grouping at all. Just only unread stories to scroll through in whatever order they arrive. Is this possible?

  86. Tomasz March 15, 2013 at 12:07 pm

I have downloaded the RSS Demon 3.1.19 just now. Please explain how I can add my feeds from OPML file. When I imput the file name, it cannot be found.
    Many thanks,

  87. Rachael March 15, 2013 at 2:06 pm

I have downloaded all my Google reader files, where do I put them in RSSDemon? Thanks!

  88. Mr Walker March 17, 2013 at 3:51 am

Is there a easy way of sharing a link once I open an article summary?

Right now I have to hit the Menu Key, choose More, then Share Link before I can share the link with Pocket.

Some other readers have a share link right there in the app summary which makes it very easy to do this..

OK, figured it out.. Just need to hit the ‘envelop’ icon… Maybe change the envelop to the std share link icon?

  89. Paloma March 24, 2013 at 5:43 pm

Since google announced the discontinuation of google reader I have been looking for a new app to read and store my feeds. And your app seems a very good solution, with even more features then google reader app. However, there are 2 things I’m missing the most. To be able to sync my read and my starred feeds between devices, and actually import my starred items from google reader, along with its tags. Are you considering implementing these features? I greatly hope so.

  91. sunny533 April 2, 2013 at 6:02 pm

How do you import Google reader feeds & groups?

  92. JamesB April 10, 2013 at 11:19 pm

One of the first things I did, before adding any Podcast feeds, was to search for an option that controlled when podcasts were to be downloaded. I used the checkbox “Wi-Fi only for podcast”, and figured that was that. In fact, this is one of the things that made me decide to switch to this app as my primary RSS/Podcast aggregation tool. Unfortunately, after only a day, I have racked up 1.3GB of usage on my mobile network… more than twice my normal usage for an entire month. Upon investigation it turns out that while the app will only start downloading new podcasts if a Wi-Fi connection is present, once it has started a download, it will continue a batch even if the Wi-Fi connection is lost.

So, when I added some new feeds at home this morning and started the download (197 some-odd podcasts in all), I didn’t bother to look to see what it was doing when I was in my car on my way to work, or the first couple of hours I was at the office. However, when I went to listen to a podcast during lunch I discovered that somehow all 197 had been downloaded … and not in the 20 minutes it was given while I was at home on Wi-Fi.

I certainly don’t expect compensation, but It would be nice if this issue could be treated as a bug and resolved rapidly. I am back to only downloading podcasts on my PC and copying them to the phone to use with PlayerPro until I know that I can trust this app to respect its usage restrictions.

  105. Steve June 6, 2013 at 2:43 am

This is the hardest-to-use RSS reader I’ve ever tried and I don’t know if it will replace my simple ol’ Android Google reader, D7 Reader.

Why all the Help files on You Tube?
Why not sort the feeds by date? What’s this alphabetical thing, starting with a 2010 file?
Where are all my downloaded podcasts?
Why do I have to “Schedule a Podcast” for downloading instead of clicking, “Download?”

Take a look at D7 Reader’s screen. See the “Saved” icon? Heaven forbid, a little floppy disk icon! Why oh why have you chosen something obscure instead?

Why didn’t you understand all this anyway? Why haven’t you done these simple things already?

Why does RSS Demon even need a Help file anyway?

  106. Tammy June 9, 2013 at 2:10 am

How do I turn off notifications in RSSDemon? I can’t find anything in settings.

  107. Mark June 11, 2013 at 11:30 pm

I cannot get the program on a Galaxy Tab to play the sound when new things come in. Is there something simple I am missing. It plays when I add a new source, and then new items in the feed do nothing.

  108. Larry Tolman June 13, 2013 at 2:57 am

Samsung Galaxy S4 here…Two times i have backed up my feed list..2 times i saw it saying “Saved” however after two reformats back to factory settings (phone)….re launching RSS Feeds..my backup isnt saved afterall and now i have to manually re add 6-9 lists for the third time….”What Gives”???? 😦 !!!!!

  109. Sam June 21, 2013 at 7:51 am

Seeing odd behavior. One feed is not loading properly for me. Instead of the article, it somehow picks up text from the blog’s sidebar. Other readers report no problems, and this only occurs on one blog. I am on the latest version from google play.

    • Sixgun June 24, 2013 at 1:49 am

I seem to have found the “problem”: For that one particular blog, the app downloads some part of the website too, and when I open the article, there’s an extra little icon, up next to the musical note icon, that looks like the RSS symbol. If I click that, the article in question is shown, and the icon changes to what looks like a small speech bubble. So the question now is, how to change the default “view” within the article, so I don’t see that sidebar bit?

  110. Charles June 23, 2013 at 2:37 am

I choose not to have a twitter account and have found rss demon the only reader to accept a Twitter website feed. It appears that my feeds are no longer updating. Does rss demon not take the Twitter api Any more?

I’m using RSSDemon Elite and like it a lot, although it says in the app description that it will export OPML, but it does not. When I backup, the APPSETTINGS.XML just contains app settings, no OPML entries, and the DATABASE.DB is some proprietary format. How do I export my list of feeds to OPML?

  116. Darryl July 9, 2013 at 12:46 am

Thought I Had A Winner For A New Podcast Reader. Worked Wonderfully For The First day. SinceThen It’s Been “Updating” Nonstop (3Days). It Is Grabbing The Text Feed, But Not The Audio On ANYTHING. At Least I HaVe A Pocet Warmer Now.

  117. niamkrawt July 10, 2013 at 11:22 pm

I generally like RSSDemon, but it is a bit buggy. I mainly use it for podcasts and keeping up with news feeds. However some podcast RSS feeds do not recognize the audio links in the feed, such as RSS feeds at blogtalkradio.com (a specific example: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/thethinkingatheist.rss ). The feed entry shows up as an article, but does not show up as a podcast. Is this a bug in RSSDemon, or something nonstandard about blogtalkradio’s feeds?

    • niamkrawt July 10, 2013 at 11:26 pm

The other minor bug involves the “More” menu – while on the Source screen, I touch the soft menu button on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S3), then touch the “More” button. Sometimes the items on the extended menu cannot be selected.Touching the “back” button on my phone and touching the “More” button again works most of the time. Is this an AppYet bug?

RSS reader is not saving positions of my podcast using HTC one. Whether I pause the podcast mid stream or just unplug my headphones from the jack I will loose my stopping point and the podcast will start from the beginning. After I unplug I hit the home screen and close out RSS reader. When I open RSS reader for my home commute, rarely (like 1 out of 10) will it resume from where I stopped it. Any ideas. Never had a problem on my HTC EVO.

  125. Andy July 27, 2013 at 1:32 pm

Hi, I am a big fan of RssDemon. The only problem I have is integration – when I tap on an RSS feed link in the default browser, it tries to open the feed in Google Reader – which no longer exists. Do you or any of your readers know how to redirect this to RssDemon so I don’t have to manually enter the feed URL?

    • Kauldron August 13, 2013 at 8:09 am

Do NOT quote me on this, but look back at when your feeds stopped working. Chances are you will see that Google Reader was terminated around the same time. I think RSSDemon used Google Reader for searches which means it’s now a broken app. That is my theory anyway.

      • Sweet Nutz August 14, 2013 at 2:13 pm

if your theory is correct, is there any way for the user to change this setting? I use RssDemon throughout the day (and night) and this issue is rather frustrating. Does anyone know if this app is still being supported by the developer?

      • Blah blah August 26, 2013 at 7:31 pm

This is correct. The app is basically broken. The best replacement I have found is RSS Reader by Quality Software, inc. Very similar to RSSDemon

Is there a way to extract the audio podcasts that I’ve downloaded via RSSDemon on my Android smartphone to mp3 audio files on my computer’s hard drive?

I have downloaded some podcasts that I don’t want to lose, yet the RSSDemom database on my smartphone is getting too large. I need to pare it down. Some of these podcasts are not archived anywhere, so the risk is losing them forever.

Is it bug or intention? Unfortunately it is not usable for me now. 😦

Hi, I’ve been using the elite version to catch the feeds of a password protected website. It has been running well for half years. However, it couldn’t display comments, pictures and links properly this morning. I spoke to the technician of the website and he told me they did a major upgrade WordPress this weekend. Below is one of the feeds that couldn’t show me pic. Please take a look at it and let me know a way to fix the problems. Thanks

The ‘search for new feeds’ doesn’t seem to work. I have a Samsung s3 with a custom ROm and have no other problems.
Once I click on the add feed through the search option, the searching quickly stops and leaves a blank screen like it didn’t do anything at all.

  152. Pierre-Yves November 4, 2013 at 7:52 am

Hi, old posts from various Google feeds keep coming back as unread each day 20 to 30 at a time. Is it something you are aware of?

    Thank you, pystl

Excellent app! I use it everyday for news, articles and and aside from a few minor issues, it’s perfect. I’m generally new to the Android platform so it’s probably just my inexperience to blame, but how do I change the default podcast player? Settings seems to only allow me to stop the app and clear the cache. Only other issue I have was already mentioned by another user and that is how when the screen rotates as well as when it updates, it jumps back to the top of the list of articles.

Once I figure out the podcast default and the list jump issue is resolved, this will be my favorite app hands down!

I’ve been playing with this app and I like the basic layout, but there are a couple of features that I’d like to suggest. 1: Make it so the widget can display a whole category, rather than just one feed. 2: Separate notification settings for individual feeds or categories. I use rss to keep me notified of certain items I shop for on eBay and Craigslist and it would be great to get those notifications without having to hear every time my regular news feeds update.

Add those items and I’ll gladly pay your license fee.

I love your app! I have your latest version (3.1.19). When I scan a feed that contains many articles (say 50-100), I typically star those that I’d like to keep (& read later), & then would like to delete all the rest (the un-starred articles)….but without deleting them one-by-one. Is there an easy, batch way of doing this? I had initially thought that I could mark everything ‘read’ & then hit ‘delete all read’ — with the hope that the starred articles would be kept — but they were deleted also. Suggestions?

Some time ago I deleted all entries of all my feeds to free up some memory.
Since that time I do not get updates on my feeds anymore. I tried to use the function to restore all feeds and that brought the missing entries back – until I selected a feed our opened the settings window (or made a manual update again). Them all the restored entries were gone again. Does anyone know, why? Does anyone know how to fix that?

Hi. I would need to export the feeds in OPML format. How csn I do it?

  158. AKG February 17, 2014 at 11:00 am

Hi. My settings button is gone.

I use a HTC One that only have the home and back button. so i used to have a context menu button at the bottom of the screen. but now it has disappeared. i tried clearing cache and data and reinstalling. but its not coming back.

  159. badseed82 February 26, 2014 at 6:37 am

I cannot figure out how to EXPORT an opml file. The backup function only produces a .db file which is useless to me because no other readers can read it. I have tried and looked for the export opml function on 3 different versions of rssdemon now, and it’s driving me mad that I cannot find how to do it!! PLEASE advice.

That this is not mentioned in the help section is pretty bad… 😦

    OPML OPML OPML OPML
Please answer the MANY REQUESTS for instructions on IMPORTING and EXPORTING of OPML FILES. Your desciption says the app features IMPORTING and EXPORTING of OPML FILES.
I paid on the wrong assumption that it must be a pid feature, but nooooo; the menues reflect no such thing IMPORTING and EXPORTING of OPML FILES.

Please prove we were not lied to. but are only dopes, not dupes.

    • Slobodan M. March 23, 2014 at 12:17 am

Tap + (manage sources), than on the new screen tap + again, select OPML and TYPE path to OPML file You want to import. If You don’t know the path, go to file manager and find file properties of the file.
Once file is imported, on the list check every feed You want to import and tap back button.
Tap and hold group from the main window and select “pick Feeds” to arrange imported feeds to groups.
      I hope this will help.

      Hi Dave,
The export feature of the app does not work. That makes it hard to switch to a different reader. But here is a way to export your feeds anyway: http://rssdemonexport-fxsp.rhcloud.com/

    Hello,

I have copied over the App Settings and Database file to my new phone, a HTC One, bit the program can’t find them to restore from! Help!

    • Mick Psyphon April 21, 2014 at 3:30 pm

      Try this:
      1. Save your database and settings to an external source (computer HDD).
      2. Uninstall the app.
      3. Manually delete the app folder from you phone.
      4. Reboot the phone.
      5. Re-install the app.
      6. Launch the app.
      7. Close the app.
      8. Copy the database and settings files from your external source to the newly created app folder (ensure to overwrite existing files)
      9. Reboot the phone.
      10. Launch the app; and verify that your feeds are present.

Hope this helps. It worked for me, when I switches from my HTC HD2 to my HTC Sensation.

      Cheers!

I have RssDemon 3.1.19 side-loaded on my Blackberry Z10 and it works fine. I purchased an Elite license this week, but the Blackberry installer closes whenever I try to install it. Any ideas?

So I have noticed that one of my feeds isn’t working on my phone but yet the same feed is working on my wife’s. It’s the fmylife feed. I have re-entered it about 10 times now with no luck. My settings are the exact same as my wife’s, and I’ve even reinstalled the whole app with no luck. Any help you could give on this would be appreciated.

  164. loopster316 May 25, 2014 at 3:11 am

I listen to podcast using the app player but it has suddenly asked me to choose my phone’s default audio player. This is annoying because I have two apps open now instead of the one app to listen to a podcast. My podcast show it’s downloaded by the blue icon but says I have to pick a different player when I’m offline. This had never happened before. I have always been able to use the Rss player provided in the app. Why it’s this happening all of a sudden?

  166. Simon July 12, 2014 at 2:14 pm

I often use “mark read until here” on the long-press popup menu when I’m perusing article summary lists, to record how far down the list I’ve scanned. But sometimes my clumsy finger hits the “mark read to bottom” entry instead. Is there a way to undo my accidental “mark read to bottom”?

    Thanks in advance, Simon.

Is there a way to choose the media player? I have a motorola android and the podcast audio messages play in a very confusing manner. When an article is playing and I hit the back button on my phone the message continues to play no matter where I navigate. The only way to stop the play is to start playing another article. I have a friend who has a Samsung Galaxy android and it plays completely different. The article stops playing when the back button is hit. Is there a way for me to make my phone act that same way in Feed+ ?

  178. mike March 28, 2015 at 2:33 am

    Improvement suggestion:
When entering view of messages in the group, swype left could change to next group, there will be no need to go back to menu to choose next group of messages. Ie. from ‘news’ to ‘health’

  179. Bal April 19, 2015 at 4:22 am

Hi. I’ve been using the old version for a long time, thanks for a great product! In v4 I can no longer download podcasts in the program itself. I can only download it to the download folder and play it with another app. Please help.

  180. Frank April 25, 2015 at 3:43 am

Since the YouTube update (ca.20.4.2015) it’s not possible to get chanels via Feed+ anymore. Is there a solution already?

  181. Craig Sal July 25, 2015 at 11:10 am

When I first started using it, I had the ability to fast forward/rewind through each podcast. Now for some reason that option is not there. I can’t slide w my finger or even skip to the next mesage. The look of the play bar is also different from when I originally set it up. Is there a way to change players so I have the option to fast forward/rewind.

  182. Marcus August 30, 2015 at 8:23 pm

The download option seems to have disapeared from most of the podcasts I subscribe to. This has only happen since an update. Now my only option is to stream the podcasts which means I am unable to listen and use other functions on my device (samsung galaxy s6)

  183. Blue September 13, 2015 at 8:42 pm

    Hi Meecel,

First off Kudos on this program. It’s awesome and I’ve been using it as well as recommending it to others for the last couple of years.

I’ve just recently transitioned to a new tablet, and I’m having difficulty importing the backup that I created on my previous devices RSS Daemon app. Where should the Database.db and the .xml file be located so that the program sees it to import and restore all the information on the new device.

FYI, just a suggestion, something in the future that might help eliminate this issue is to allow the user to tell the backup/restore function where the file is located or where they want to backup the file.

Keep up the great work and thanks in advance for the help!

Hi,is there any way that saved, starred articles can be saved or uploaded to either an ad card or a cloud store like dropbox ?
I would usually use something like titanium backup to save the entire app and data bases but this phone is un-rootable so titanium and others don’t work,so I need another way of saving the app or it’s files.
I love redeeming and use it for hours everyday, but I now have over 13500 articles saved, yes 13500,and my phone now needs a reset because it has problems, and I really, really want to save those articles,is there a way to save them and if yes, exactly which files and folders do I need to save so that when I ‘re-install rssdemon on this device and then in a while install on my new tablet,it will be possible to bring those articles into new install of rssdemon again…
    Thanks for any help advice
    Tim.

As my English is not very good, this is a translation through google. Forgiveness and thank you very much.
