How do I open a downloaded epub file within the app? I’m subscribing to a feed of epub links, and RSSDemon downloads the files, but I don’t know where or how to access them afterward.

Howto upgrade from the 2.x release? Installing Release 3 does NOT upgrade my subscriptions to the new release!

    • meecel October 25, 2011 at 12:59 pm

This is beta release, it will not auto upgrade all existing 2.x users, until it is ready, we will apply and auto upgrade all existing user. please rate us on Market for V3, let us know what you think of new V3, any new suggestion or feature suggestion would be appreciated.

Hi, I think Zash is trying to say the same thing I will report.

Is there a way to import the feed URLs from 2.x to V3? I don’t want to have to reconfigure everything when I start using V3, and I cannot use V3 until this feature is completed.

        Thanks!

The app itself is very nice! I will rate it a a high level!

    Hello Meecel,
After some days of using this version, I would say, it is more stable and faster than previous version. I would suggest some improvements:
    1) automatic cache deletion (can be deleted the cache files linked to deleted articles, at least?). It is still consuming so much phone space, even it is not indicated in the application overview. deletion of cache once or twice a day is a must..
    2) possibility to remove the “agregations” (like last 24 hours, All unreads, all stars and all podcasts) from main screen, because they are occupying half of the screen (unusefull).
    3) possibility to define own aggregations by user.
    4) possibility to have feed groups that were in version 2 (very usefull).
    5) to move the cache from phone to SD card (is the cache really necessary for something?)
I am standing with you, your rss reader is really great!
Thank you very much for it.
    Have a nice day.

Thank you for great suggestion, we will try to implement most of them in up coming release. The 1) is already implemented, currently set to auto clear cache every 24hours, we will try to make it configurable for how frequent

    • Zash October 27, 2011 at 3:10 pm

      Yes,
      2) and 3) would be very nice to have!

Half of the screen is fill of aggregations which we cannot delete now

    • eljoest November 4, 2011 at 3:00 am

I concur with Jarda on points 2) and 4). Having a rather large internal memory (Droid 2) I’d love to keep the cache in there (5).

    Hi there,

I am an RSSDemon Elite customer (and love it!), and although I haven’t tried using this beta version of the app yet I would like to see a couple of things in the new version of the application:
    1) Save the podcasts in MP3 format so they are playable in the system player
    2) Audio control doesn’t seem to work properly when enabled, I’m using RemoteControl for Earphones.
    3) Sometimes google mobilize doesn’t work and I get a little frustrated when I can’t read the full article before I hit the subway, is there any way you can make a notification for it and a way to redo the mobilize feature?

  7. Zash October 27, 2011 at 2:18 pm

For me it is absolute necessary that NO unwanted background process is started like on version 2.x
Pleas make RssDemon that it runs only on demand – a background process must be a separate choice!

    Hi,
I don’t understand something. I’ve a feed and an article has been updated within this feed. The “timestamp” of the article has been updated (in the past) but RssDemon don’t updated the article.
Could you explain me what are the criteria to update an article in a RSS feed in RssDemon?
Second point for you: I’ve added a new feed from a web URL. When the feed is updated, nothing is found. I don’t know if the URL is correct. I try to verify the URL but it is not possible to show it in the feed properties! And no error message is shown to me to explain why the feed cannot be updated! Should this way better considered in the next release?
    Thanks
    R_E

    Hi meecal,

I’ve tested the new version for a few days and found it to be quite stable and nice. I’m really missing the feed groups and ability to hide feeds with no new items. It’s great that the image display problems I have with v2 are no more (feed: josephmallozzi.wordpress.com)
    Additionally I’ve found the following:
    1. Changing the screen orientation returns to the top of the article first read (when navigating articles with screen swipes)
    2. I’ve disabled volume key navigation. Pressing a volume key (down) moves to another article.
    3. I’ve set some feed attachments (feed above) to download. After a few more updates I tried to play them. Instead I got the message “Error has occured during media playback”, presumably from the reader.
    4. It seems the feed attachments of read articled are removed from the playlist when the article is read but the attachment was not previously played.
    5. Every now and then a feed shows a “no items” message after opening. Returning to

    • eljoest November 4, 2011 at 3:19 am

      Do’h…

… After returning to the feed list and tapping the feed again the articles are shown. This appears to happen when I just left another feed and the reader is still busy marking items read (takes a few seconds).

In conclusion I’d like to stress that I really like the new version even though it’s “just” a beta.

      Regards
      Jörg

    Where can we leave/report bugs?

  11. Flo November 25, 2011 at 4:18 pm

Hi meecel! I´m a big fan of your reader…
What about another Widgets? Icons with notification per feed. Or scrollable widget in 4×4 4×1 e.g.

    Otherwise great work. thx

    Hello meecel
It looks like podcasts are saved to this location:
    /com.meecel.feedreader.RssDemonAd/cache/Podcast
With a new (random?) file name, and no .mp3 extension. I prefer to use an other mp3 player (Podcast Player by john Shipp) as it has 30 second skip. Is it (or would you consider making it) possible to save podcasts to someplace like /downlaod using their original file names?

    Best Regards,

    Ben
